CARTHALANDA SR Z: A DAUGHTER OF THE OLYMPIC STALLION CARTHAGO COMBINED WITH THE HOLSTEIN PERFORMANCE FAMILY 7673

Thanks to ‘Flanders Mare Auction’ one get the opportunity to buy a daughter of progenitor Carthago, a Capitol I son that participated at the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Olympic games. Partnered with Jos Lansink, Carthago was very successful, winning for instance the Grand Prix of La Baule and Frankfurt, second in the Grand Prix of Aachen, second in the Grand Prix of Hamburg, fourth in the World Cup class in Geneva, plus several other outstanding performances. He also collected several golden team medals, in Aachen (1997), Rotterdam (1998) and La Baule (2000). Many descendants of Carthago are playing a leading role on the international showjumping scene, amongst them Cordano Sitte Z (Abdelkebir Quaddar),  Première Carthoes BZ (Felipe Amaral), Old Chap Tame (Abdulrahman Alrajhi) and Carismo Z (Justin Resnik). Carthago passed away in 2013. The chances to buy a daughter of him are lessening.

Carthalanda Sr Z’s dam line we meet Quidam de Revel and Cor de la Bryère, two stallions that developed their own line in several European studbooks. Via her dam, Quita Z, Carthalanda Sr Z belongs to the Holstein breeding family 7673. It is interesting to mention that Quita Z’s grandmother, Furgund, also produced the full brothers Calando I, II, III, IV and V. Amongst them, Calando I was the most successful in the showjumping world, including German champion in 1984 under the saddle of Karsten Huck, before he started competing at international level in partnership with Edgar-Henri Cuepper. Calando I underlined his value for the breeding world, especially via his daughters. Renegade Z, a half-brother to Carthalanda Sr Z, was approved as a stallion. In Germany he was successful in showjumping tournaments of A- and L-level, before being sold to Australia. Via Carthalanda Sr Z’s full sister Choral Z, Quita Z is the grandmother of Carvella Z. The ten-year-old Caretano Z daughter Carvella Z performs at international 1m40 level, in partnership with Calvin Böckmann. The international showjumpers Carlotta 168 (Andrew Bourns) and Queen Windsor (Pheline Ahlmann) also belong to Carthalanda’s dam line.
