FIRENZE VAN DE DWERSE HAGEN

The sire of Firenze van de Dwerse Hagen is the Westphalian stallion Hunter van de Dwerse Hagen. Hunter combines in his pedigree two legendary progenitors, namely Heartbreaker (as sire) and Darco (as sire of the dam), respectively 27th and 41st in the most recent WBFSH/Rolex ranking for the best suppliers of showjumping horses. Under the saddle of the Portuguese rider Tiago Cardoso Peres, Hunter performed at international 1m40 level. In the studfarm of family Ceulemans (studfarm ‘DH’, alias ‘Dwerse Hagen’) Hunter was mainly crossed with own breeding or sports dams. Firenze van de Dwerse Hagen is an example of this breeding strategy.

Jos Ceulemans bred Firenze out of one of his best dams, namely Withney van de Dwerse Hagen. Thanks to her scope, speediness and super mentality, Withney performed for many years at the highest level. In partnership with Patrik Spits, she collected many victories and honourable placings in international showjumping classes, including World Cup classes, Nations’ Cups and Grands Prix. Withney also produced her business card as a breeding dam, for instance as dam of the international showjumpers Jonsaunier van de Dwerse Hagen, Jillonse van de Dwerse Hagen, Veneto DH Z and Firenze’s full brother Grenoble DH. Via her dam line Firenze goes back to BWP performance line 22, out of which many international showjumpers have been born, amongst them Nikolaas van de Heemstede, Rubens du Ri d’Asse, Nikita van de Heemstede, Akito de Laubry, Premium de Laubry, Galileo de Laubry (5*, Antonio Maurer) and Garfield de Tiji des Templiers (5*, Jérôme Guéry).
