HAITI: BRED BY ANDRE BRAECKEVELT, FOUNDER OF STUDFARM ‘VAN ’T ZORGVLIET

André Braeckevelt, the successful breeder of studfarm ‘van ’t Zorgvliet’, is also the breeder of Haïti. Haïti’s sire, the Holstein international performer PKZ Contact Van De Heffinck, is a son of Concept out of a full sister to the Olympic stallion Clinton. Partnered with Toni Hassmann, Contact has showed his outstanding showjumping qualities. Some of his highlights: fifth in the Oldenburg Grand Prix (2010, two-star, 1m45), eighth in a 1m55-class in Salzburg (2010, four-star), 11th in the Salzburg Grand Prix (2010, four-star, 1m60), fourth in the sires of the world in Mechelen (2010, five-star, 1m45), 11th in the München-Riem Grand Prix (2011, three-star, 1m55), fifth in a 1m45-class in Kiel (2013, three-star) and third in the Dortmund Grand Prix (2014, three-star, 1m55). Several descendants of Contact are following in the hoofprints of their illustrious sire, such as Rahmannshof Tic Tac (ex-Ilan, Alain Jufer), Hacienda d’Eversem (Wilm Vermeir), Hassan van de Wittemoere (Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida), Calinesse de Guldenboom (ex-Hester van Dobby-Home, Jane Richard Philips) and Grand Cru Van De Vijf Eiken (Vanessa Mannix).

Valina, Haïti’s dam, carries Heartbreaker’s valuable performance blood. Crossed with Clinton, she produced Camax L (ex-Galant van de Heffinck). At the 2008 Westphalian stallion approval, Camax L was approved as a stallion. Camax L performed in international two- and three-star showjumping tournaments, in partnership with Christian Ahlmann, and subsequently with Thomas Holz. Haïti’s grandmother, Jaminga, is a daughter of that legendary supplier of international showjumpers, Ramiro. It runs in the blood. Jaminga produced three outstanding showjumpers, namely Valina’s full brother Vinchester PKZ (ex-Winchester, two-star to four-star, 1m40 to 1m50, Toni Hassmann and Marina Vinnichenko), Bocello (this full brother to Valina and Vinchester jumped at three- and four-star level, 1m40 to 1m55, in partnership with Michael G. Duffy. Since June 2017 Bocello is performing under the saddle of Mark Bluman) and Salino (1m50 to 1m60 level, Ahmed Sabry).
